Miso Glazed Salmon
Miso glaze is salmon’s best friend. Sweet white miso, mirin, and a touch of sesame create a glaze that caramelizes under the broiler into a golden, umami-rich crust. It’s a dish you’d pay $28 for at a Japanese restaurant, and it takes 12 minutes at home.

Miso Glazed Salmon
Ingredients
- 2 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons white miso paste
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat broiler to high. Line a baking sheet with foil.
- Whisk together miso, mirin, honey, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
- Place salmon on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the miso glaze generously on top of each fillet.
- Broil 7-9 minutes until the glaze is caramelized and bubbly and the salmon flakes easily.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with rice and steamed vegetables.
Recipe Tips
- White miso is milder and sweeter than red miso — use white for this recipe.
- Watch the broiler carefully — the glaze goes from caramelized to burnt quickly.
- Pat salmon dry before glazing for better adhesion.
- This glaze also works on chicken, tofu, or cod.
