Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese

Prep: 2 mins Cook: 6 mins Total: 8 mins Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 2 slices thick-cut Italian bread or sourdough
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan
  • Italian seasoning
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Mix softened butter with minced garlic, parmesan, and a pinch of Italian seasoning.
  2. Spread the garlic butter on the OUTSIDE of both bread slices.
  3. Place one slice butter-side down in a skillet over medium-low heat. Pile mozzarella on top. Add the second slice, butter-side up.
  4. Cook 3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.
  5. Flip carefully and cook another 3 minutes. The garlic butter should be golden and fragrant.
  6. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Recipe Tips

  • Medium-LOW heat is key — too hot and the garlic burns before the cheese melts.
  • Thick-cut bread holds up better than thin sandwich bread.
  • Add a few fresh basil leaves inside for a Caprese version.
  • This + tomato soup = the ultimate comfort meal combo.
