Sesame Garlic Ramen
Ingredients
- 1 packet instant ramen noodles (discard the seasoning packet)
- 2 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon chili garlic sauce or sriracha
- 1 soft-boiled egg
- Toppings: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, corn, spinach, nori
Instructions
- Start the soft-boiled egg: lower an egg into boiling water, cook 6.5 minutes, then transfer to ice water. Peel when cool.
- In a saucepan, heat chicken broth over medium heat. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and chili garlic sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Add ramen noodles (discard the seasoning packet — your broth is better). Cook 2-3 minutes until noodles are tender.
- Pour everything into a bowl — broth and noodles.
- Slice the soft-boiled egg in half and place on top. Add green onions, sesame seeds, and any other toppings. Serve immediately.
Recipe Tips
- 6.5 minutes is the magic number for a jammy soft-boiled egg with a runny center.
- Use the ice bath — it stops the cooking and makes peeling effortless.
- Add a handful of fresh spinach to the hot broth — it wilts in 30 seconds for easy greens.
- Leftover rotisserie chicken turns this into a high-protein meal.
